Resveratrol is found in the skin of red grapes and is a constituent of red wine, but apparently not in sufficient amounts to explain the French paradox. Experiments have shown that resveratrol treatment extended the life of fruit flies, nematode worms and short living fish but it did not increase the life span of mice. Most of these results have yet to be replicated in humans. In the only positive human trial, extremely high doses (3–5 g) of resveratrol in a proprietary formulation have been necessary to significantly lower blood sugar.
The protective effect seems not due to alcohol the wine contains, but rather its non-alcoholic compounds. Resveratrol is a natural antibiotic from the vine, allowing it to resist the attacks of moississures. It is found mainly in the skin of grapes. Because of differences in manufacturing processes, its concentration is always higher in red wine than white wine. It is are also found in the non-fermented fruit in the grapes!
Thus, an authentic grape juice would be just as beneficial as red wine. A proof, this recent study by the journal of the American Heart Association. For two weeks, it was drinking red grape juice in 15 patients with coronary risk. After the experiment, the elasticity of their vessels had greatly improved.
Concerning the vin, we’re talking about a moderate two to three drinks per day at most. In addition, adverse effects appear.
This is neat! French people drink and drink and never get fat! Well, I guess it’s not that simple. Read this!

good luck!
The French in question eat a high-fat diet with lots of red meat and cheese and not much focus on veggies. But, they also drink 2-3 standard size glasses of red wine each day. It turns out that the red wine cleans out their arteries, so that the cholesterol build-up and cellular degeneration that they "should" have are not there. One of the biggest chemicals found in the red wine is resveratrol.
